Oedipus
DNA
is a theme/topic stimulated performance-making project, using the
ancient Oedipus mythology, philosophy, biomedicine, science and
sociology as source material.
This new work explores the moral, social and personal
implications of developing genetic technology through the Oedipus
myth. Weaving
a young pregnant couple’s dilemmas and the Oedipus mythology,
a chorus of scientists pose pertinent questions on how modern
science effects our lives.
Conceived by Naomi Edwards and Megan Price, Oedipus DNA is currently in development. The aim is to create a devised theatre piece with a strong visual and text based aesthetic.
